Odoo, in addition to its many advantages (ERP and integrated multi-tools), has become an approved platform solution for electronic invoicing in France on 15/04/2026. What does this mean for your business, how will it integrate into your IT system, what cost does it represent?
What are the deadlines for electronic invoicing?
The reform of electronic invoicing is coming to France in September 2026 and provides for a global application by September 2027.
The first deadline, for artisans, freelancers, micro-enterprises and SMEs, is to be able to receive supplier invoices (issued by large groups, telecom operators, etc.) via an approved platform.
The principle is as follows:
- the supplier will issue the invoice which will be analysed (notably thanks to a set of technical tags) and the system determines the SIREN number of the client (your business)
- your business is known, via its SIREN number, in a national directory that allows directing invoicing flows to the correct platform (a bit like how a telephone network works: we are known by our phone number and the routing to our operator happens naturally)
- the invoice then arrives on the platform to which you have subscribed and communication can then take place with your accounting software in order to integrate the invoice into your accounts, and then be reconciled after your payment
This compliance is an opportunity for companies that will have proof of submission on invoices, thus running the payment deadlines. Customer statements such as "emails not received" or "emails without attachments" or even "the email was in spam" will then have no legitimacy.
Odoo officially recognised as PA (formerly PDP) by the DGFiP
Since 15/04/2026, Odoo has joined the list of approved platforms for electronic invoicing. The list can be consulted here: https://www.impots.gouv.fr/je-consulte-la-liste-des-plateformes-agreees
In practical terms, what does this mean? This makes Odoo a major player in the digital transformation of France, authorised to process electronic invoices (in issuance and reception) of companies, in compliance with the standards imposed by the DGFiP. We can also mention:
- the automatic transmission of documents to the public invoicing portal
- the consideration of e-reporting
- the support for different formats of electronic invoices
What is a PA and why is the choice of Odoo strategic?
A PA (Approved Platform) is a certified system in which invoices can be exchanged between B2B (and institutional) actors. This PA guarantees the reliability of data, compliance with standards, as well as consideration of different management scenarios.
For Odoo, this new feature provides a coherent and comprehensive offering for the business. Indeed, the functional scope extends beyond purchases, sales, and accounting as Odoo now becomes the gateway that allows billing flows to communicate. This new "brick" fits into Odoo's overall approach, namely: a single software to manage the entire business. The direct integration of the PA with the "Accounting" module of Odoo ensures data consistency and the automatic creation of supplier invoices in the management system. Additionally, it should be noted that documents will also be securely stored on your Odoo database.
What is the cost of an Odoo PA?
In line with its pricing policy, the implementation of a single module (billing or accounting) is free and thus allows for the use of the platform's features at no cost. If additional complementary modules (purchases, sales, CRM, etc.) are added, a unique pricing structure applies regardless of the number of activated applications.
Is the Odoo PA secure?
The secure server is based in France, with SecNumCloud certification.
Invoices are not stored on the PA, only the passage logs are retained.
How to activate/configure electronic billing in Odoo?
Electronic billing is developed based on v18 and can be made available on v17.
Access to the PDP module (name used by Odoo) is granted after updating the apps (debug mode):

We can then activate the approved platform from the settings management:

The activation of electronic invoicing in Odoo is done quickly, from the accounting application:

Then, in order to prepare the transmissions, we ensure that our contacts have the SIRET numbers that will be used for routing the various documents:

Then, at the time of transmitting the invoice, we ensure that the transmission via the approved platform is properly selected
